On July 22, 2015 while I was at the office, I received a phone call from a supposed representative from Microsoft. The supposed representative was stating that my desktop was sending their servers an error. At first, it caught me off guard since I had just added the business listing to Bing, so for a split second I believed the supposed Microsoft representative. As the representative kept talking, she asked me to type in a specific command on the computer, eventvwr, and at that point I knew something was wrong and I quickly hung up. After, hanging up I googled the eventvwr, and there it was clear as day the “Event Viewer Scam”. If I would of followed all the ladies instructions I would of eventually given this stranger complete control of my computer allowing this stranger to acquire whatever information they wanted, or infect my computer with malware and download all the information they wanted. Therefore, next time you receive a weird phone call be weary of what the other person is trying to make you do. How about this, next time you receive a weird phone call, just hang up.
